Google launches Universal Cart in the US, a shared cart in Search and the Gemini app

Shopping through an SI assistant has become an ordinary Search feature: it watches prices and suggests what to pay with.
According to TechCrunch, the tool shown at Google I/O in May is now available to US users: it collects items from different stores, sends notifications when a price drops or an item is back in stock, takes bank-card rewards into account when choosing how to pay and suggests promo codes. Checkout relies on the open Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), which Google introduced earlier this year so that SI agents and stores can work together. The tool complements the shopping features already in Search's AI Mode and the "Let Google Call" service, in which an SI agent phones stores to ask about stock.
