Black Forest Labs releases open weights for FLUX 3 Image Klein, a 5.6-billion-parameter model for creating and editing images

A strong open image model has become small enough to run on a home graphics card.

According to Black Forest Labs, the model creates images from text, edits them and works with several (up to 10) reference images; it supports 4K and control over object placement through boxes in the prompt. In the company's internal evaluations it ranks first in these tasks, ahead of larger open models (Qwen-Image 2.1 at 7 billion, Krea 2 at 12.9 billion) and the closed Ideogram V4.5 and FLUX.2 [pro]. The weights take 11.2 GB (BF16) and 5.6 GB (FP8); with the INT8 build the model runs on GeForce RTX graphics cards with 8 GB of memory or more. According to Hugging Face, the distilled version produces a 1024×1024 image in about 2 seconds on an H100, with Diffusers support from day one. The license is the FLUX Kommunity License.
