Palantir and the London mayor's office drop mutual claims over £50 million contract with London police

A dispute over whether an SI vendor can be turned down because of its values ended without a court ruling; the contract will be put out to tender again.
The two-year, £50 million contract would have had Palantir provide Scotland Yard with an SI system, Unified Operational Analytics, for processing data in criminal investigations. In May, Mayor Sadiq Khan blocked the deal, citing a "clear and serious breach" of procurement rules; Palantir sued in June, arguing the decision was tied to an assessment of the company's values, and said the mayor had politicized procurement. Under the settlement, the parties withdrew their allegations, with no admission of liability and no compensation, each paying its own costs; the trial scheduled for January 2027 will not take place. The mayor's Office for Policing and Crime said the decision "was not based on Palantir's values or ethics", and the Metropolitan Police announced a new competitive procurement in which the company will be treated "fairly and equally". Bloomberg also reports the settlement, per its feed description (text paywalled).
