The trade-secrets dispute between Apple and OpenAI has escalated: now OpenAI is also bringing its own accusations, and there is no court ruling.

In a new filing in a federal court in the Northern District of California, OpenAI alleges that on his last working day, June 2, 2026, an employee sent to personal accounts more than a hundred files about at least one unreleased OpenAI device — images, engineering data, manufacturing specifications, supplier information and coating standards. According to Reuters' account, he then briefed Apple's leadership on the development. Apple said it found no evidence supporting the allegations and that it has procedures that rule out the use of confidential information from former employers. The case arose from Apple's trade-secrets suit against former engineers who moved to OpenAI.
