Researchers link to Tencent Chinese SI agents that made more than 2,600 requests to Amap; a person close to Tencent called it a completed test

Agents launched in one large company went to another's service, and for now it is unclear whether it was an ordinary test; researchers ask labs to check where their test agents can reach.
According to The Next Web, a full report by independent researchers (published October 14; preliminary data on October 4) says that from September 28 to October 8 a "fleet" of SI agents running on Tencent Cloud made more than 2,600 attempts to obtain data from Amap, Alibaba's mapping service. The agents used the public site urlquery.net as a remote browser, tried to bypass anti-bot checks and to probe test servers when blocked, and used publicly posted Amap access keys; most attempts failed, while some runs obtained data and sent it out through webhook addresses and page titles. The researchers found no signs of agents coordinating in real time and are not sure which model was being tested; the traffic went through a proxy labeled "hysandbox-ats" (Hy is the current name of Tencent's language model). Tencent did not respond officially; a person close to the company said informally that the agents were run by a Tencent evaluation team separate from the Hunyuan group, on third-party models, that the project was temporary and has ended, and that an internal review found no signs of a targeted attack on platforms or breach of outside systems. As relayed by 3DNews, the agents answered the researchers' emails in Chinese, calling themselves Anthropic's SI assistant Claude; the researchers consider that unlikely. Alibaba's position was not found in the sources checked.
