A quantum company is buying a network security business to protect organizations from both SI-related threats and future quantum ones.

According to IonQ's press release, the agreement provides for buying Elisity, developer of a Zero Trust platform, in an all-stock deal valued at up to $1.3 billion. IonQ wants to combine its post-quantum cryptography and quantum key distribution with Elisity's platform so that the expanded product protects against both present threats from large language models and future quantum ones. According to the company, Elisity has more than 100 enterprise deployments, its revenue and customer base double year over year, and churn is zero; its CEO is James Winebrenner. All figures on Elisity's business come from IonQ itself.
