Surgical robots in Moscow have become an ordinary part of medical care and already work in ten hospitals.

According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in his channel, more than 2,500 robotic procedures were performed in the capital in the first half of 2026 — 29% more than a year earlier. Robots are used in oncology, general surgery, trauma care, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology; such operations are available in 10 Moscow hospitals. Hospital No. 31 became the first in Russia to perform hip replacement with a fully automatic robotic system, and the technology is being extended to other hospitals. Key decisions during an operation, according to the mayor, are made by the doctor.
