Drones that land on a ship's deck without a runway are entering Coast Guard service; deliveries will run for several months.
According to the company, the 12 aircraft will be delivered over the coming months, with the first handed over in October; they are intended for maritime situational awareness, coastal patrol and law-enforcement tasks. The Coast Guard Administration selected the V-BAT in a July 2026 competition under its shipborne drone program; operator training and support are provided jointly with Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation. According to the company, the aircraft flies for more than 12 hours and takes off and lands from a ship's deck without a runway. Shield AI president Brandon Tseng said the V-BAT will give the Coast Guard the picture of the situation it needs in the Taiwan Strait.
