Rapid adoption of SI agents has turned into manual cleanup of errors, and some companies are putting people back into processes and restricting use.

According to The Guardian's analysis, Meta (citing Reuters) limited plans to cut staff and expand the number of SI agents when employees began spending more and more time fixing technical and security errors; according to workers' LinkedIn posts, the company is again expanding its layer of managers. Microsoft executive vice president Ryan Roslansky publicly complained about "SI slop": he summarized a co-worker's SI-generated document with his own SI and came away with no new thoughts. According to Business Insider, Walmart employees are plagued by unrealistic expectations, errors and false alerts from SI tools that assign tasks and monitor work. According to an Atlanta Federal Reserve working paper, 90% of executives do not yet see productivity gains from SI; in an EY survey, 36% of senior SI executives at companies with revenue of $1 billion or more reported an incident involving data loss, damage or disruption.
