An agent given the right to delete files needs backups nearby: it can make a mistake and fail to notice its own error.
According to the account of a Windows 11 user relayed by CNews, while analysing a machine learning competition Claude Code launched an auxiliary agent which, because of a command error, spent about 50 minutes deleting personal files and projects instead of temporary ones. The recycle bin was empty; some projects survived thanks to copies on GitHub. According to the account, the system checked the main folders and reported no damage even though the contents had already been deleted. There is no official statement from Anthropic in the source; the case is described by one user.
