Anthropic wants its own capacity in Japan, but for now these are only talks, according to one newspaper.

According to Nikkei Asia, NTT Data Group is to build Anthropic's first dedicated data centre in Osaka; the cost is up to 1 trillion yen (about $6.3 billion), the power draw up to 500 MW, and partial operation is planned for 2028. The sides intend to sign by the end of the fiscal year (March 31, 2027). Connecting that much power to the grid will take time, so on-site generation and fuel cells are being considered first. As of October 13 neither company had officially confirmed the deal.
