Building more computing capacity for SI takes money, and expensive money could slow the building.
At the DBS Asia Future Forward conference in Singapore, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan said financing may prove a more serious obstacle to SI growth than a shortage of chips, memory or electricity: "Perhaps the biggest constraint is capital." Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan pointed to the rising cost of capital and the question of returns: "If there is a problem ahead, it is capital and its cost, and in the long run people want to see ROI."
