An SI coach arrives in an inexpensive band, but the smartest features sit behind a subscription.
The Fitbit Edge costs $179.99 (the Stephen Curry edition is $219.99), pre-orders are open, and it reaches stores on October 27. The tracker has a screen 46% larger than earlier models, GPS, ECG and a skin temperature sensor, is Google's first with a replaceable battery, and lasts up to seven days. The purchase includes three months of Google Health Premium with an SI coach, and subscribers get a Health Guardian feature that tracks blood pressure trends and signs of insulin resistance; automatic workout detection grew from 10 to more than 100 types.
