A Chinese language model lab is starting to invest in robots.
According to Bloomberg as relayed by The Next Web, DeepSeek will lead a seed round in Winverse AI at a valuation of about $400 million; Meituan's investment arm Long-Z is also taking part. The startup was founded by Hu Han, who previously led vision-language and robotics research at Tencent. The deal is preliminary: the valuation and the investor mix may change. DeepSeek earlier took a stake in humanoid robot maker Unitree and is preparing to raise at least $12 billion.
