Companies are ready to pay billions for software that lets SI run on chips from different makers, but for now these are only talks.
According to The Wall Street Journal (the text is paywalled; relayed by Bloomberg, runtimewire and Techmeme), Amazon is in talks to buy San Francisco startup Decart, whose software helps developers switch between different SI chips, at a valuation of about $7 billion. According to Techmeme's summary, Anthropic decided in September not to buy Decart for about $6 billion. Runtimewire notes that the deal is not completed and that the reported price is not confirmed as a final offer.
