SI is already entering publishing work, and the dispute is over whether authors should know about it.
According to accounts from several dozen employees collected by Wired, publishers are using large language models such as Claude and ChatGPT for publicity materials, cover art, back-cover copy and emails. Executives, they say, are asking junior staff to learn these tools, while many employees consider the practice problematic because authors are not told and their consent is not sought.
