Implant durability is a key question for brain interfaces, and the first four-year data look encouraging, but so far only in animals.
On October 8, Paradromics reported that its brain-computer interface showed more than four years of stable recording and decoding of neural signals in preclinical studies (that is, in animals, not people). These are the company's own data; the company earlier demonstrated speech with an implant in its first patient.
