SemiAnalysis: Chinese labs rarely publish safety evaluations of their models

Chinese models have few public safety-test results, by SemiAnalysis's assessment.
According to 3DNews, citing SemiAnalysis, of 857 releases from nine large Chinese companies (Alibaba, ByteDance, Tencent, Baidu, DeepSeek, Moonshot, Z.AI, MiniMax and StepFun) between 2021 and September 2026, safety evaluation results were published for only 31, and at or before launch for only nine (1.1%). Information on the safety of 813 models is absent from open sources. By SemiAnalysis's assessment, no major Chinese developer has released for the general public the results of dangerous-capability tests of an advanced language model; regulation in China, it notes, focuses more on the consequences of application than on the risks of model capabilities themselves.
