SI companies are seeking a short path into government medicine: officials' decisions determine which SI apps millions of patients will see.

According to CBS News, citing a KFF Health News investigation, about 1,700 members of a private Slack set up in August 2025 — representatives of Microsoft, Anthropic, OpenAI, Apple and Google, investors and consultants — discussed SI health apps with CMS officials, including Amy Gleason and Jacob Shiff. According to the messages and recordings, CMS promised that the Medicare app library would become a "sales engine", and vendors pushed for apps to have access to medical records with minimal restrictions.
