Startup Bridge Neurotech and Butterfly Network build a non-invasive brain-computer interface using ultrasound

If thoughts can be read with ultrasound, the brain-computer interface will no longer require surgery and could become a mass technology.

Bridge Neurotech came out of stealth and signed a multi-year agreement with Butterfly Network: Bridge will license the Ultrasound-on-Chip technology for functional ultrasound imaging of the brain with SI decoding of neural activity, "without surgery or other modifications to the body". The deal includes technology-access payments, development-milestone payments and hardware purchase commitments. According to the company, it is already enrolling participants in its first human study in Redwood City, California. Bridge was founded in 2026 and is backed by General Catalyst, reMind Capital, Sunflower Capital and Scott Sandell.
