Anthropic releases Claude Haiku 5.5, its cheapest model yet, with input from $0.10 per million tokens

SI assistants are getting so cheap that they can be put on every small task.

Anthropic calls Haiku 5.5 the cheapest, fastest and most capable of its small models: in typical tasks it costs about 75% less than Haiku 4.5. According to the model page, a million input tokens cost $0.10 for prompts up to 100K tokens ($0.50 above that threshold), and a million output tokens cost $0.50 ($2.50 above the threshold). Haiku now has an effort control for trading cost against capability for the first time, and computer and browser use are available in beta. According to Anthropic, the model scores 72.4% on OSWorld 2.1 (offline subset) and 45.9% on Humanity's Last Exam without tools (57.4% with them). It is available on the Claude platform (claude-haiku-5-5), AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure; its cybersecurity safeguards are stricter than Haiku 4.5's but looser than Sonnet 5.5's.
