Investors are betting ever more boldly on the link between brain and machine: interfaces are moving from labs to mass production.

The Series D round was led by Pershing Square, Ackman Oxman Institute and an unnamed life sciences fund; in total the company has raised about $430 million. The money will go to expanding the clinical program, further FDA review stages for Layer 7, and commercial infrastructure. Layer 7 is a thin, flexible interface with 1,024 electrodes the size of a postage stamp, cleared by the FDA in 2025 for use of up to 30 days; according to the outlet, Science Corporation and Merge Labs recently raised $230 million and $252 million.
