Stanford connects GPT-6 Astra directly to a humanoid robot, and it tidies an unfamiliar kitchen on its own

A language model can already control a robot's body on its own in an unfamiliar home: a home helper is becoming a matter of engineering, not science fiction.
In the HomeBody system, researchers at Stanford and Caltech dropped a separate trained control layer: GPT-6 Astra directly calls the skills of a Unitree G1 robot, such as grasping, walking and opening drawers. The robot first walks around the room, builds a digital twin of it in Nvidia Isaac Sim and remembers where things are, then tidies up and takes things out of drawers on vague requests, without training for a specific kitchen. The limitations are model latency, overheating of finger servos and high cost; the code is open.
