SI infrastructure is growing faster than anyone can report on it, and the cost of that growth in electricity and land falls on specific people living next to the construction site.

Google's $15 billion project in Visakhapatnam (with AdaniConneX and Airtel) was officially presented as a 1 GW hub, but according to documents seen by the Guardian, the state of Andhra Pradesh approved 2.51 GW, roughly two large nuclear reactors and more than 30% of the state's current annual electricity consumption. The permit was issued in nine days with no public hearings; 520 families lost plots allocated to them about 20 years ago, and three lawsuits are pending before the National Green Tribunal. State incentives are estimated at $2.2 billion over 20 years; Google says the cooling will be air-based and will not affect drinking water.
