Crusoe walks away from $1.25 billion Boom Supersonic turbine deal to power SI data centers

Electricity has become the main resource of SI construction, and the market for on-site generation for data centers is being reshuffled fast.
Crusoe had planned to buy 29 Superpower gas turbines of 42 MW each from supersonic aircraft maker Boom. Boom chief Blake Scholl says the turbines are no longer part of Crusoe's near-term power mix in Abilene; Crusoe clarified that it will use turbines, "just not from Boom", and is choosing among wind, solar, batteries and the grid. For Boom this is a blow to its plan to fund the supersonic Overture with its energy business; the company talks about 250 MW of turbines for other customers in 2027.
