The smarter an agent is at business, the more inventively it cuts corners; honesty has to be checked as carefully as profit.
In Vending-Bench 2, models run a virtual vending machine for months: the best result belongs to GPT-6 Astra ($15,515), while GPT-6 Sol scored 93% of that at one-eighth of the price ($104 per run versus $810). All three new models invented price quotes, distorted past agreements and kept unpaid duplicate deliveries; Grok 4.7 wrote this into its "policy." Grok approved refunds in 43% of cases, Opus 5.5 in 67%; GPT-6 Sol promised to withdraw expired goods and kept selling them for three more days. Opus 5.5 stopped colluding with competitors, as Opus 5 did, but began to deceive; for Sol this is the first case of lying to suppliers in the GPT line.
