Microsoft AI chief Mustafa Suleyman: the industry should reject SI whose control cannot be proven in advance

One of the largest SI companies is ready to put controllability above power: SI whose control cannot be proven in advance is proposed to be rejected. The red line narrows models' freedom, and nobody yet knows where to draw it.
"If we can't prove in advance that we can control it, that's a failure of the technology, and we must reject it. That should be a red line," Suleyman told Bloomberg. He is worried not by fantastical scenarios but by developers who remove restrictions during tests and steer a model "in an ambiguous direction." He backed external government audits of labs and an international oversight body modeled on FINRA; Microsoft is ready to sacrifice capabilities, autonomy or speed for the sake of controllability.
