Zuckerberg, Musk and Huang talk Trump out of creating an industry SI overseer modeled on a stock-market one

The attempt by three leaders to secure for themselves the right to decide which models get released ran into the other giants — the race remains open to all.

According to the Wall Street Journal, in recent weeks the heads of Meta, SpaceX and Nvidia separately called Trump. They opposed Demis Hassabis's idea of creating, with industry money, a body modeled on the stock-market self-regulator FINRA that would vet frontier models before release. Their main argument: such a structure would concentrate influence in the hands of OpenAI, Anthropic and Google DeepMind. Trump did not create such a body, which, according to the outlet, disappointed some White House staff. The three labs, meanwhile, continue to prepare their own voluntary standards body.
