China is building its own SI hardware ever faster, and the world is getting a second path, independent of Nvidia, for scaling up compute.
Huawei will release the 960DT in the first quarter of 2027, earlier than it had planned, and the Ascend 960PR in the third quarter. The company is also developing technology for joining a very large number of chips into a single computing system, to make up for an individual chip's lag behind Nvidia through scale.
