Mistral builds its SI into Firefox: without storing conversations on servers
Prepared by Sintelligent with the help of SI. Publication time restored from the build log. . Updated: .
European SI gets millions of users through the browser — privacy gets a built-in SI assistant, not just the option of declining one.
The Firefox Smart Window assistant, which helps organize search, find previously visited pages and gather data from open tabs, now runs on Mistral models. It launches in France and North America, with the UK and Germany later in 2026. Conversations are not stored on Mozilla's servers by default, and Mistral commits not to retain data.
