Google opens the smart home to SI agents: Claude and ChatGPT will be able to control Nest devices

Prepared by Sintelligent with the help of SI. Publication time restored from the build log. . Updated: .

Agents are moving off the screen into the physical home — soon "asking SI to turn off the lights and check the cameras" will be as ordinary as sending a message.

The Home MCP server, built on the open Model Context Protocol, lets agents (Claude, ChatGPT, Hermes, OpenClaw and Google Antigravity) control Nest and Matter-compatible devices, view event history and camera summaries, and build their own control panels. Early access is so far only for US subscribers of Google Home Premium Advanced at $20 a month, with connection through a Google Cloud project and OAuth.
