Hundreds of millions of people got an assistant in one day that actually gets things done on the phone: SI agents are moving from labs into the pocket.
On September 14, iOS 27 became available as a free update for iPhone 11 and newer. The new Siri runs on a mix of Apple's own models and Google Gemini: it carries out multi-step requests, sees the contents of the screen and camera, searches emails, messages and files, writes and sends messages on its own, and keeps conversation history in a separate app.
