SI helps small languages avoid disappearing: even a language with 14,000 speakers gets a link to a hundred other languages of the world.
The neural translator has added Altai (about 70,000 speakers) and Karelian (about 14,000) with translation into more than 100 languages. The service now supports 9 Turkic and 8 Finno-Ugric languages of the peoples of Russia; the models were trained together with the Ministry of National Policy of Karelia, the Karelian Research Centre and Gorno-Altaisk University.
