Startup Abliteration.ai makes money on SI models with safety restrictions stripped out

Once a model's weights are open, its restrictions can be removed, and a business has already grown up around this. Real safety will be determined not by a ban on knowledge but by how quickly defense manages to use the same tools as offense.
The company hosts modified versions of open models, for example GLM-5.3 from Z.ai, with the built-in refusals removed, and sells access to them through a browser and an API: such models write exploits and answer questions that ordinary models decline. The startup was founded in late 2025, lives on revenue without venture money and says it is in talks with major cloud providers. Its customers are mostly British and European red-team companies that test the defenses of banks and critical infrastructure. Critics from CivAI warn that such a model becomes a "sociopath" and makes cyberattacks and bioweapon development easier.
