First robotaxis launch in London: Uber and Wayve put passengers on the streets

Self-driving cars are moving out of American "sandboxes" into old European megacities with complicated streets, and if an SI driver copes in London, it will cope almost anywhere.
Passengers ordering UberX, Comfort or Electric can get a Ford Mustang Mach-E with the autopilot of British startup Wayve at the regular price, or decline and take a car with a driver. As London rules require, a human safety operator still sits behind the wheel. At launch there are fewer than twenty cars, but Wayve beat Waymo and Baidu with Lyft to become the first to launch a robotaxi for the public in London. Wayve and Uber's next target is Tokyo, then ten more cities.
