SI token prices fall to a record low, under a dollar per million

Prepared by Sintelligent with the help of SI. Publication time restored from the build log. . Updated: .

Running SI is getting cheaper before our eyes, and smart models are becoming affordable to almost everyone, even if it makes it harder for the labs to make money.

The Silicon Data index, which reflects the average real price of a million tokens adjusted for usage volumes, dropped to 97 cents on August 31, the lowest since its launch in late 2025 and less than half the summer peak. The causes are competition, cheap Chinese open models such as Kimi K3, OpenAI's July price cut on GPT-5.6, and dynamic pricing. For OpenAI and Anthropic, which are preparing for IPOs, this means pressure on margins.
