According to the Epoch Capabilities Index (ECI), the SI frontier has been growing by 14 points a year since o1 was released in September 2024, whereas before that, from GPT-4 to GPT-4.5, it grew by 6 points a year. The conclusion is based on a trend analysis of 23 frontier models.
