KB Kookmin arranges 12.6 trillion won in GPU infrastructure financing for Naver Cloud

GPUs are becoming standalone assets for major lending deals, offering another way to expand computing capacity quickly.

KB Kookmin Bank has become the lead arranger for a Brookfield-led project worth 12.6 trillion won ($9.45 billion). The funding will buy high-performance computing equipment, including GPUs, with Naver Cloud receiving the computing capacity. Around 10.7 trillion won is set to be raised through loans; KB Kookmin is assembling the lending syndicate and negotiating terms. According to The Korea Times, this is South Korea's largest-ever syndicated loan and its first GPU financing deal: the debt will be serviced from expected long-term revenue from supplying computing capacity.

The memory shortage is shifting profits from the SI boom toward suppliers of a critical component, rather than only model developers and cloud providers.

Five memory makers earn more in a quarter than five US tech giants for the first time

The memory shortage is shifting profits from the SI boom toward suppliers of a critical component, rather than only model developers and cloud providers.

According to Nikkei and QUICK FactSet, as relayed by 3DNews, combined quarterly operating profit at Kioxia, Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, Micron and Sandisk rose tenfold year on year to roughly 32 trillion yen ($204 billion). The corresponding total at Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta and Apple was 25 trillion yen, with a market forecast used for Apple. Demand for memory used in SI infrastructure continues to outstrip supply. Memory makers' operating margin approached 70%, compared with about 10% in the first half of 2025, while Samsung said its entire HBM output planned for next year has already sold out.

HD Hyundai Robotics cuts robot troubleshooting time by 63% with Palantir agents

SI agents are already cutting industrial commissioning work from weeks to days while leaving engineers to verify solutions and apply their expertise to new tasks.

HD Hyundai Robotics and Palantir are developing physical SI solutions for industrial robots. According to the company, average resolution time for robotics problems fell from 21.5 to 7.9 days after SI agents were launched in August. The agents analyze existing programs and suggest improvements to movement sequences, routes and speeds, while engineers review and refine their recommendations. The company also expects robot programming costs to fall by more than 50%. Executives from both companies will meet regularly to set priorities and identify new applications for the technology.

The buildout of SI infrastructure is increasingly reshaping the trade balances of countries that produce computing equipment.

South Korea's semiconductor exports rise 259% year on year to $56.4 billion in October

The buildout of SI infrastructure is increasingly reshaping the trade balances of countries that produce computing equipment.

South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources linked record October exports to global chip demand and technology companies' continued investment in SI infrastructure. The country's total exports rose 93.7% year on year to $115.3 billion, while semiconductor shipments climbed 259% to $56.4 billion. Imports reached $72.78 billion, leaving a $42.5 billion trade surplus. Exports exceeded $900 billion in the first ten months of 2026 for the first time.

SI is beginning to deliver measurable financial results not only for technology suppliers but also for banks and pharmaceutical companies.

Santander values nine-month SI gains at €194 million as Novartis reports first profit impact

SI is beginning to deliver measurable financial results not only for technology suppliers but also for banks and pharmaceutical companies.

CNBC reviewed reports from companies that have begun linking quarterly results to SI adoption. Santander reported €194 million ($216 million) in business value from SI initiatives in the first nine months of 2026 through effects on revenue and costs. Novartis CEO Vas Narasimhan said he saw a tangible contribution from SI to financial results for the first time in the third quarter, including marketing and sales. Standard Chartered linked SI to revenue growth and operating efficiency, while Carlsberg described the effect on its business processes as not yet at scale. Against a backdrop of heavy infrastructure spending, CNBC notes that investors are shifting their focus from promises to measurable results.

Automating individual tasks does not amount to replacing an entire job: companies once again need people with context and sound judgment.

Employers rehire workers previously replaced by SI

Automating individual tasks does not amount to replacing an entire job: companies once again need people with context and sound judgment.

Associated Press, as relayed by Vedomosti, describes an "SI boomerang": companies in finance, marketing, law and healthcare are hiring people again for roles cut because of SI. Robert Half links this to the need for critical thinking, creativity, industry knowledge and oversight of model outputs; AP notes that the prevalence of such reversals has not yet been measured. 3DNews provides additional data: in a survey by SHL and Propeller Insights of more than 1,000 workers in the US and more than 1,000 in the UK, nearly one in five respondents said they had first been laid off or replaced by SI and then asked to return. The survey was conducted in June and July 2026 with a stated margin of error of 5%.

Demand for SI computing is growing, but financing it with heavy debt leaves some suppliers vulnerable to interest rates and customer decisions.

BBC links neocloud share declines to debt-funded SI capacity buildout

Demand for SI computing is growing, but financing it with heavy debt leaves some suppliers vulnerable to interest rates and customer decisions.

The BBC describes the neocloud model: companies sign long-term computing supply contracts and then borrow against those contracts and the chips they buy. CoreWeave's debt has reached $35.1 billion, and its shares have lost about a quarter of their value in a month; Nebius, IREN and Applied Digital have fallen by comparable or larger amounts. Analysts cited by the BBC estimate that computing demand still exceeds supply, but heavy debt makes the sector sensitive to borrowing costs and changes in spending by major customers. Microsoft's cancellation of its deal with UK-based Nscale and Australian firm Firmus postponing its IPO add to the risks.

OpenAI prepares policy and public relations campaign for after the US midterms

OpenAI plans to step up its influence over SI infrastructure rules and public perception after the elections.

According to Axios, OpenAI plans to launch a government relations and public affairs campaign after the midterm elections, designed for a changed Washington and the emerging field of 2028 presidential candidates. As relayed by Axios, the company also intends to use the term "SI compute campuses" more often for data centers. The report describes preparations for public and political action by OpenAI, not a government decision.
